Trip Overview
The 5-Day Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a classic Himalayan journey that proves you don’t need weeks in the mountains to experience life-changing views. Known as the “Photographer’s Paradise,” this trek is a vibrant loop through the heart of the Annapurna foothills. It is defined by its deep, ancient rhododendron forests—which transform into a sea of red and pink in the spring—and its intimate look at the Gurung and Magar cultures.
The crown jewel of this expedition is the pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill (3,210m). From this famous vantage point, the horizon explodes into color, revealing a panoramic “Wall of Giants,” including two 8,000-meter peaks: Dhaulagiri and Annapurna I. For the Verve Nepal trekker, this itinerary is about high-efficiency success. It is a journey designed for those who value their time but refuse to compromise on quality. Just like a high-performing short-term stock, this trek delivers a massive return on investment, leaving you refreshed, inspired, and physically rejuvenated by the natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda.

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Ulleri (1,540m) & Trek to Ghorepani (2,860m)
Your adventure begins with a rugged drive from Pokhara, skipping the dusty lower trails to start your hike at Ulleri (1,540m). This 11km trek (3-4 hours) is a steep but rewarding ascent through one of the largest rhododendron forests in the world. As you climb, keep an eye out for the eight different species of Nepal’s national flower that thrive here. By the time you reach Ghorepani, a historic rest stop for ancient horse caravans, you’ll be perched on a ridge with the mountains staring right back at you.
Day 2: Poon Hill Sunrise & Trek to Tadapani (2,630m)
Today begins in the quiet, star-lit hours of the morning as you make the pre-dawn ascent to the world-famous Poon Hill (3,210m). This 45-minute climb is the ultimate test of focus, rewarding you with one of the most iconic sunrises on the planet. As the first light of dawn hits the horizon, you will witness the jagged peaks of the Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) massifs turn from a ghostly blue to a brilliant, fiery gold. Standing atop the hill, you are surrounded by a 360-degree panorama of over 20 snow-capped giants, including the sacred Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Nilgiri.
After soaking in the morning light, you’ll return to Ghorepani for a well-earned breakfast before beginning your 11.5km trek toward Tadapani. The 4-hour trail leads you along high ridges and through enchanted, moss-covered forests that feel like a scene from a fairytale. The day concludes in the village of Tadapani, which offers a front-row seat to Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, seemingly so close that you could reach out and touch them from your teahouse window.
Day 3: Trek from Tadapani to Jhinu Danda (1,780m)
Leaving the heights of Tadapani behind, your 8km journey today is a steady descent into the lush, temperate heart of the Annapurna region. For four hours, you will wind through ancient oak and bamboo forests, where the air is thick with the scent of pine and the sounds of rushing waterfalls. The trail offers a serene atmosphere, perfect for a “walking meditation” as you move closer to the Modi Khola river. Your destination is the peaceful settlement of Jhinu Danda, a village famous for its hospitality and its unique natural treasures.
The true highlight of the day lies just a short walk below the village at the edge of the river. Here, you will find natural, mineral-rich hot springs built right into the riverbank. There is no better way to reward your hard-working muscles than by soaking in these healing waters while listening to the powerful roar of the glacial river beside you. It is a moment of pure rejuvenation, allowing you to wash away the physical fatigue of the climb and prepare your mind for the final leg of the journey.
Day 4: Trek to Siwa & Drive to Pokhara
Your final day on the trails is a gentle, 3.9km descent that follows the rhythmic flow of the Modi Khola river. For 3 to 4 hours, you’ll enjoy a relaxing walk through lush subtropical greenery and past local suspension bridges, feeling the air grow warmer as you move toward the trailhead at Siwa. This is your victory lap—a time to breathe in the fresh mountain air one last time and appreciate the physical strength you’ve cultivated. Upon reaching Siwa, a private vehicle will whisk you away for a scenic drive back to Pokhara.
Day 5: Drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu (1,350m)
Your final day begins with a scenic 205km drive from the tranquil lakeside of Pokhara back to the vibrant energy of Kathmandu. For 6 to 7 hours, you will retrace your steps along the winding Prithvi Highway, following the powerful currents of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. This drive is the perfect time for deep reflection; as the terraced hills and rural villages pass by your window, you can look back on the sunrise at Poon Hill and the healing waters of Jhinu Danda as milestones of your own resilience.
Upon arriving in the capital, your expedition reaches its official conclusion with a celebratory farewell dinner hosted by Verve Nepal. This evening is a tribute to your journey, providing a space to share stories with your fellow trekkers and toast to your successful 3,210m ascent.
